Course Details

Start of the course

The course starts at 9:30 exactly.

We would advise candidates to arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow time for registration and practicalities.

Given the extent of the material that needs to be covered and in fairness to all other participants, we cannot delay the start of the course to allow for late arrivals.

Breaks and lunch

Breaks: Coffee, tea and other refreshments are served throughout the day. There are two comfort breaks, one mid-morning (around 11am) and one mid-afternoon (around 3pm).

Lunch: The lunch break is typically 12:30pm - 1:15pm. A buffet lunch will be served, with a choice of meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes. If you have dietary requirements or allergies/intolerances, please let us know ASAP.

End of the course

The day ends around 5:30pm.

Please note that if you are in an enthusiastic and talkative group, the end of the course may be slightly delayed, sometimes up to 6:00pm.

If you need to leave the course at or before 5:30pm, please let the trainer know in the morning.

Course Material

The material provided is a 142-page handout covering key techniques and topics relating to the interview process.

There is no need to read the handout before the course. It is merely a reference guide for you to refer to after the course throughout your preparation for the interview.

To download the course handout, click on the button below. A printed copy of the handout will be given to you on the day of the course.

Pre-Course Work

The first hour of the course will be spent on how to introduce yourself to a panel with maximum impact. In order to ensure that you and your colleagues get the most out of this first hour, we would ask you kindly to prepare a 3-minute answer to one of the following common opening interview questions:

  • Tell me about yourself
  • Take us through your CV
  • What can you offer this Trust?

Prepare your answer as you would give it in the context of a real interview. You might find the section in the handout on the CAMP structure useful for this purpose.

Dress Code

The dress code for the course is smart casual.

London Venue

Address of the venue

The course will take place at the following venue:

De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms
61-65 Great Queen Street
London WC2B 5DA

Arriving by public transport

The venue is easily accessible from all main train stations and is near Holborn and Covent Garden tube stations.

If you are arriving through Euston or King's Cross/St Pancras, you may prefer to walk as the 15/20 minute walk from either station is often faster than a ride on the tube.

Driving to the venue

If you intend to drive to the venue, please note the following:

  • Parking is not possible on the streets around the venue.
  • The closest car park is Intelli-Park in Covent Garden, located at 20 Parker Mews (WC2B 5NT), a 2-minute walk away from the venue. Cost of parking is £30 for the day but £15 if you turn up before 9:30am (pay on foot or via an app).
  • Congestion charge (£15) is now payable every single day (7:00-18:00 Monday-Friday and 12:00-18:00 Sat-Sun).
